Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife has announced that Super Model Naomi Campbell has agreed to be Kenya’s International Tourism Ambassador.
This follows a successful meeting between the model and CS Tourism Najib Balala over the weekend.
“We welcome the exciting news that Naomi Campbell will advocate for tourism and travel internationally for the magical Kenya the brand, “Balala said in a statement to the press.
On her end, Campbell commended the government of Kenya for the improvement of infrastructure at the coast including the upgrading of Malindi Airport to international standards and that it will boost tourism in the region.
The announcement has however attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans with questions like why a Kenyan could not be entrusted with that position arising.
Some, questioning the financial cost that comes with having Campbell as an ambassador amidst a debt crisis in the country.
However, in her defense, CS Balala noted that having Campbell as an ambassador doesn’t take away from our domestic market but only strengthens it.
